About Chef Jorge –
Chef Jorge Diaz has a passion for cooking from his mother. During his early years he saw his mother going to work in a kitchen every day as a chef too. She taught him to excel in everything he does, to enjoy it and work hard. And how food brings people together; one thing he always remembers is going to the “Finca”, to visit his grandparents, and the gathering was around the kitchen, eating and sharing the homemade food, cooked by his grandmother and his mother.
Chef Jorge graduated from a Culinary School of Formatur in Holguin, Cuba. And then he worked in a beach resort hotel where he gained experience and skills working as part of a large culinary team. He came to United States of America in 2001, he lived in Louisville, Kentucky. There, he worked in a recognized and authentic Spanish restaurant as a Sous Chef in De La Torres Restaurant, from Spain. Jorge learned the authentic dishes from the Spain cuisine with the owner Miguel De La Torres. From Paellas, Tapas, Caldo Gallego, this contributed to further enrich his knowledge of Cuban and the Spain cuisine.
Jorge moved to Florida in 2004, he worked in different restaurants in the area of Fort Myers and Cape Coral, Asian, American, Mexican, among others. Providing him with more experiences, creativity, and enrichment about all kinds of dishes around the world.
In 2011 he started as the sous chef at Palmetto Pines Country Club in Cape Coral, Florida. Working there he wanted to grow professionally, and he decided to study at Keiser University. He graduated in Culinary Arts in 2013. While working there, he started a side job on his own catering for weddings, Quinceanera, baby showers and different events.
Chef Jorge had the opportunity to be the Executive Chef in 2019 at Palmetto Pines Country Club, for 4 years. He was always very consistent in presentation and quality of the food; creative and service oriented. Very committed to his position and the responsibilities he had there.
In his spare time, he enjoys visiting new places with his family and degustation of a dish in new restaurants. He keeps absorbing new information about world cuisines, unusual techniques, and industry trends.
